Big Hearts Throughout the Year

We know how hard school can be when children have everything they need. But what about those children that
are also having to worry about wearing the same pair of pants all week long. Or the child whose family doesn’t
have laundry detergent to provide them with clean clothing to wear to school? Or the child that doesn’t have a
warm winter coat or gloves for recess?

Big Hearts of Fox Valley offers a way to help families who may be experiencing a financial hardship and are having
trouble providing basic items for their children throughout the school year. 

D303 social workers identify children who they notice may need basic items such as clothing and toiletries.
These children may have families who are experiencing any of the following factors that may impact the parents’
ability to provide needed items for their children:

Single parent | Illness or death in the immediate family | Loss of income or low-income |
Homelessness | Home destroyed by fire | Other circumstances that may impact a family’s ability to
provide needed items to their children.
